Principal's Welcome

PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME MESSAGE

In September, 2019 a group of caring educators embarked on a challenging new initiative– the opening of Outstanding International Academy(OIA) in Toronto. OIA is built upon the premise of delivering outstanding educational learning opportunities to both international students and local students alike. OIA offers the Ontario curriculum mainly in an online setting to students offshore. Students are able to work remotely, at their own speed, in the comfort of their own home, to achieve Ontario Secondary School Diploma(OSSD) credits. The successful completion of the required credits allows our graduates to attend the university of their choice in Canada or anywhere in the world. A truly remarkable offering from OIA. Together, the teachers and support staff will make this happen for you. OIA is a great place for learning and Toronto is a great place to live.
At Outstanding International Academy we also provide onsite learning classes granting credits towards the OSSD, as well as, English immersion learning for students who require ESL training in order to prepare for university and college life in Canada. The staff at OIA will provide a caring environment for all students to learn and reach their full potential.

All of the teaching staff at Outstanding International Academy are certified Ontario teachers or have the equivalent status from another province or country. They are specialists in their field. Teachers at OIA are hired based on their knowledge and skills as teachers but also for their ability to relate and motivate students to do their best. Our teachers and guidance counsellors are empathetic listeners and will support students in their transition to a new country with its different culture, customs and challenging education system. Every one of our teachers believes that motivated and engaged students will reach their highest potential. We encourage our students to take advantage of the opportunities presented to them at Outstanding International Academy.

All courses are taught based on the rigorous Ontario Curriculum. We are an inspected and approved credit granting school by the Ministry of Education for Ontario. We focus on English language development through an emphasis on reading, writing and speaking – all essential skills for success in a Canadian university or college. Students are encouraged to explore new ideas and concepts and to express their own ideas. Thinking creatively, problem solving and expressing your ideas in written form are essential skills for the upcoming generation of students in Canada. Graduates of Outstanding International Academy will be well-prepared to tackle the challenges of their post-secondary education.

On behalf of all members of the OIA teaching community, I look forward to welcoming you to Canada and to our outstanding school.

Best wishes for your future,

Mr. John Elmer,  B.A., M.Ed., Specialist, Sp. Ed., OCT
