As we ring in 2025, it is my pleasure to welcome you (back) to our OIA Thornhill campus and our D2L online programs.\u00a0<\/p>

The community of Thornhill, Ontario, where OIA is located, is a bustling, active and embracing city of people and businesses, families and cultural events that will embrace you as well! Shops at Yonge are right across the street, with condominiums, residences, businesses and food courts steps away from the school. Our OIA teachers and educational staff are committed to your academic success, today and for your future. Caring and dedicated, we set high standards for you, our students, and provide the support systems and processes for student achievement of these. We focus on your learning in ways that develop it academically and prepare you practically for future accomplishments. We have established synchronous, asynchronous, and LIVE sessions learned as part of our commitment to your learning.<\/p>

Our teachers are either OCT certified or have the equivalent status from another province or an international country abroad. They are specialists in their fields and have your, the students\u2019, best interests educationally at heart. On any given day, they can be found motivating, encouraging and teaching our students to be the best they can be. We are not like other schools, we employee full time teachers, full time TAs, who work from our onsite location. This allows you, the student, to choose the medium through which you learn: Onsite at our Thornhill campus, online from anywhere you call home, or a mixture of both. The choice is yours.<\/p>

All OIA courses are developed and taught following the Ministry of Education\u2019s Ontario curriculum expectations. OIA is inspected and approved by the Ministry of Education and we are a credit granting secondary school. Bessie Moros has 21 years of teaching and Principal experience in Ontario. She has taught English in both public and private school settings and she has developed a keen and honed understanding for the unique needs of and problems facing international students studying in Ontario schools. Be it tackling homesickness, dealing with trying to understand a second language deeply enough to excel at Ontario high school courses, or developing a career plan for their future - international students undertake a challenge linguistically, academically and emotionally in studying courses in Ontario schools. To this end, Bessie had developed the skills, tools and strategies that help smoothen the way for international students in these contexts.\n\nBessie has extensive and honed experience as course and curriculum developer and decades of experience in guiding, leading and inspiring secondary schools, teachers, educational staff and students. Her unique brand of friendly professionalism inspires teachers, staff and students to be the best they can be. She can daily be found encouraging and motivating her staff and students. Ham has been working in Education profession since 2005. His teaching and educational management experience is gained both in China and Canada, so in his class there is a flexible development endeavoring to bridge the differences between the two systems. Students usually find his teaching approach easy to follow because of his student-centered teaching methodologies, combined with a well-constructed course syllabus based on his years of experience. \nHam graduated from UCL Institute of Education, which is a globally top institution of education. He also acquired his TESOL certificate in Canada, along with the CELPIP Instructor Cerfiticate, and TESOL Trainer Certificate at American TESOL Institute. Cameron Telch is a PhD candidate in Educational Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University, focusing on the underrepresentation of shell shock in Canadian war museums. His dissertation critically examines war museum narratives and advocates for more accurate portrayals of psychological trauma from the Great War. Cameron holds two master\u2019s degrees in History and Education from York University. An experienced educator and published author, he serves as Managing Editor of the Journal of Veterans Studies and contributes to several academic journals. Hi everyone! My name is James, and I\u2019m an English teacher here at OIA. I like to expand my teaching repertoire into social sciences, and so I teach both Law and Families in Canada as well. I graduated with a Master\u2019s of Teaching at OISE in June of 2024, and started teaching at OIA shortly after. Luis Fernando Pazmino Estevez is a passionate science educator at OIA, originally from Ecuador. He holds a Master of Science in Anatomical Sciences from Queen\u2019s University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Physical Rehabilitation from Ontario Tech, completing both degrees in English as a second language. Fernando has taught Human Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology at the university level, earning praise for making complex topics engaging and understandable. He is also certified in special education, with expertise in supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia. Outside the classroom, Fernando enjoys playing both beach and indoor volleyball.

Receiving her BFA in Performance Arts Dance from Ryerson University, Toronto,\nJessica has been training and performing in many styles of dance since the age of\n4. Shortly after getting her degree, Jessica trained and performed with Toronto\u2019s\nAfro\/Brazilian and samba based dance company, The Dance Migration, founded\nby Adrianna Yanuziello. Jonathan, a lifelong resident of Toronto, Ontario, has experienced both downtown and suburban student life. Drawn to the tranquility of suburban environments, he pursued a bachelor\u2019s degree at York University. Having once struggled with math himself, Jonathan discovered a passion for helping students overcome similar challenges. \u201cHailing from the small seaside town of St. Andrews in New Brunswick, Canada, Sam moved to the town of Sackville, New Brunswick in 2017 to pursue a bachelor\u2019s degree at Mount Allison University. In 2021, after completing his BA Honours in History with a Minor in Philosophy, Sam decided that he was finally fed up with small towns. In 2021, he moved to Toronto, the largest city in Canada, to undertake the MA program offered by the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. After his MA, Sam decided that he wanted to help younger students to develop their own academic abilities, especially their skills in communication and historical thinking, and so he found employment as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto. Later, inspired by its mission of providing a first-rate international education, Sam joined Outstanding International Academy (Thornhill) in order to further his goal of becoming a university professor by preparing students all over the world for their own university experiences. Minzi\u2019s academic experience studying overseas in education has prepared her for being a bilingual teacher in an international field. After receiving her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Education in Germany, Minzi moved to Toronto and pursued her Master\u2019s degree at the University of Toronto. As a dedicated learner, Minzi will work on a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Toronto.\nDuring the undergraduate and graduate study, Minzi has learned techniques of curriculum design and evaluation, and obtained excellent research paper writing skills. Minzi has excellent knowledge of and skills in educational leadership and policy, K-12 education, research techniques, data gathering and analysis. Minzi believes creating in-depth teaching and learning environment is the key to success in secondary school education and in preparing students for advanced study at the university level. Justin\u00b4s journey through education has taken him to many destinations around the world. Starting life in South Africa and moving to Canada at the age of 10, he moved from one end of the earth to the other. He understands the feeling of being transplanted. It was interesting and informative seeing and experiencing and living amongst different cultures and different peoples. With itchy feet after graduating from University of Waterloo, he journeyed off to Asia, where he lived, travelled in and worked throughout the continent for close to a decade. Teaching students in Taiwan opened Justin up to Daoism and Buddhism. The warmth of the people and the delicious food Justin will carry with him throughout his life. Once back in Toronto, Justin focused his attention on teaching in international and private high schools, while pursuing his Master's degree in Adolescent Education. Justin is an avid fan of baseball and hockey, the outdoors and he loves the beach! His aim as a teacher is to help students develop a love of learning that takes them places in their minds and in their lives for the rest of their lives. His teaching is student centric, and his current role at OIA is within the English Department where he is developing the future writers of the world! \n\n

Justin Riley<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Justin\u00b4s journey through education has taken him to many destinations around the world. Starting life in South Africa and moving to Canada at the age of 10, he moved from one end of the earth to the other. He understands the feeling of being transplanted. It was interesting and informative seeing and experiencing and living amongst different cultures and different peoples. With itchy feet after graduating from University of Waterloo, he journeyed off to Asia, where he lived, travelled in and worked throughout the continent for close to a decade. Teaching students in Taiwan opened Justin up to Daoism and Buddhism. The warmth of the people and the delicious food Justin will carry with him throughout his life. Once back in Toronto, Justin focused his attention on teaching in international and private high schools, while pursuing his Master's degree in Adolescent Education. Justin is an avid fan of baseball and hockey, the outdoors and he loves the beach! His aim as a teacher is to help students develop a love of learning that takes them places in their minds and in their lives for the rest of their lives. Minzi\u2019s academic experience studying overseas in education has prepared her for being a bilingual teacher in an international field. After receiving her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Education in Germany, Minzi moved to Toronto and pursued her Master\u2019s degree at the University of Toronto. As a dedicated learner, Minzi will work on a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Toronto.\nDuring the undergraduate and graduate study, Minzi has learned techniques of curriculum design and evaluation, and obtained excellent research paper writing skills. Minzi has excellent knowledge of and skills in educational leadership and policy, K-12 education, research techniques, data gathering and analysis. Minzi believes creating in-depth teaching and learning environment is the key to success in secondary school education and in preparing students for advanced study at the university level. As an online curriculum developer in Outstanding International Academy, Minzi focuses on students\u2019 learning needs and is devoted to improve students\u2019 abilities in reading and writing. My life has often found meaning in exploring new places, connecting with people, and\nexperiencing things that dreams could not anticipate. I\ncome from France, a beautiful country which, somehow forgets that it is its diversity that gave it its incommensurable beauty, a nation that is losing itself to the pitfall of incuriosity.\nMy research at the University of Montr\u00e9al, and the University of Toronto (where I obtained a\nmaster\u2019s in political philosophy) looked at diversity from philosophical, anthropological, and\neducational angles. I explored the notions of Aboriginal self-determination, diversity in\neducation, multiculturalism, gender in politics, intersectionality and more (I invite you to read!). My teaching \u201cstyle\u201d at Outstanding International Academy, an organization whose vision aligns to mine in the pursuit of providing outstanding education to students around the world and making premium education more accessible, is based on the premise that everyone has something to teach and something to learn. Thus, I willingly join my students in the circle of knowledge and encourage them all, just like I do, to give the class a bit of their specialness, a bit of their colour, and a bit of their humanity in sum! From right here in Toronto Canada, Samantha has been a city girl from the beginning. In high school she studied Visual art at Wexford Colligate School for the Arts and received a special series visual art diploma for her efforts. Along with a love of art Samantha loves the outdoors despite growing up in the city. Although all her life Samantha has loved both art and science, she ultimately chose to study science pursuing a bachelor\u2019s degree at The University of Toronto in Environmental Biology. While in university Samantha worked as a research assistant in two plant physiological labs and wrote her thesis on vineyard ecology. After her BSc, Samantha now fully understood how confusing and complex science can be and decided to pursue a career in science communication as she hopes to provide the public and students the framework to think for themselves and interrupt complex topics. Samantha joined Outstanding International Academy (Thornhill) in order to further her goal of becoming a science communicator and content creator by helping students prepare for university.
